Before Detention, Dadan Hindayana Previously Expressed Openness to Criticism During Tenure as Head of BGN

The former Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, has officially been named a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving the buying and selling of service points within the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG). Following his designation as a suspect, his track record during his 2.5-year tenure as Head of BGN has come under scrutiny.

This includes various criticisms directed at his previous statements, ranging from his suggestion of consuming two litres of milk per day and proposing insects as a protein source, to debates surrounding the free nutritious meal programme itself.

Several criticisms levelled against him during his term were addressed by Hindayana while appearing as a guest on Helmy Yahya’s podcast on 8 August 202t5. During that session, Dadan Hindayana admitted that he did not mind receiving criticism from the public. He believed that criticism served as a drive to continuously improve performance and deliver the best results.

“I am happy to receive criticism as it motivates us; I want to respond to it with performance rather than more words,” he stated, as quoted from Helmy Yahya’s YouTube broadcast on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.

Hindayana emphasised that the criticism he received acted as motivation to accelerate programme implementation to reach all intended targets. He chose to leave the assessment of his performance to the public.

“So, I am now driven to immediately accelerate this programme to reach everyone. Let the public be the judge,” he added.

Arrest and Designation as a Suspect

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has officially named the former Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, as a suspect in the alleged corruption case involving the buying and selling of service points within the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) on Wednesday, 3 June 2026. This designation follows a series of investigations, which included searches at the BGN office in Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta.

The case involving the former high-ranking BGN official emerged after investigators from the Attorney General’s Office conducted searches at the agency’s office early in the morning. From that location, investigators allegedly secured several findings pointing towards the practice of buying and selling SPPG points within the national nutrition fulfilment programme.
