Before Being Arrested by the KPK, Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq Had Lashed Out at Netizens on Instagram

Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Semarang, Central Java, in the early hours of Monday, 3 March 2026. The arrest relates to alleged corruption in the procurement of outsourcing services and other procurements within the Pekalongan Regency government for the 2023–2026 fiscal years. The case adds to scrutiny surrounding Fadia Arafiq, who previously drew public attention for a heated response to a social media comment.

The incident began when an Instagram user with the account name @Ray*ulia_raman asked about the inauguration of Ki Ageng Sedayu Hospital. The user also mentioned the absence of Fadia at an event in Ketandan, Wiradesa.

“When will the Ki Ageng Sedayu Hospital inauguration take place, Ma’am? I hear the budget of a certain amount hasn’t been released? And at the last event in Ketandan Wiradesa, why weren’t you invited and why didn’t you attend, Ma’am? Are you afraid of being investigated?” wrote the user.

The reply from a verified account under Fadia Arafiq, in a loud tone, read: “Keep your mouth shut when you speak—don’t be rude; you’ll be investigated by law enforcement, you’ll get what’s coming to you later! What about the budget not being released? What budget is that? Don’t go looking for trouble; you can’t be held to account for what you say! #admin.”

The comment drew a mixed reaction from other netizens, some saying the response was inappropriate for a public official.

Now, Fadia Arafiq again drew public attention after being arrested by the KPK in a case concerning the procurement of outsourcing services and other procurements in Pekalongan Regency. The Pekalongan regent is currently detained at the KPK’s Red and White Building for the first 20 days, until 23 March 2026.
