Before Becoming Suspect, Amsal Sitepu Offered to Handle Video Project for Karo District Prosecutor's Office
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Videographer Amsal Christy Sitepu claims he was once offered to become an expert witness and to work on a video profile project for the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office before ultimately being designated as a suspect in the alleged corruption case.
Initially, Amsal explained that he was first examined in March 2025, and at that time, the examination process proceeded without anything suspicious.
“Initially, I was first examined in March 2025. And there, during March 2025, everything went very well in my opinion. There was nothing worrisome,” Amsal said while attending a general opinion hearing meeting (RDPU) at Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Thursday (2/4/2026).
According to him, during that moment, he was offered to become an expert witness because he was considered to understand the video profile production process.
“There, I was offered to become an expert witness because he said Amsal is the one who most understands how to make this video profile,” he said.
In addition, Amsal also claims he received an offer to work on the video profile project for the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office.
However, he did not accept the offer.
“And then there was also an offer for making a video profile for the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office. But I didn’t agree because of several reasons that I have already mentioned,” he stated.
“And I only agreed to review the course of the investigation that I uploaded on my TikTok account, Sir,” he added.
After the second examination, he was immediately designated as a suspect.
“And then, eight months later, I was examined again, my second examination on 19 November 2025, and after that examination, I was immediately designated as a suspect,” he revealed.
The designation of suspect is said to be based on the results of an investigation by the Karo Regency Inspectorate which stated there were state losses from the work he carried out.
