Before Arrest, Taufik Hidayat Called YTR's Parents — What Was Discussed?

Taufik Hidayat, the perpetrator of the confinement and abuse of his girlfriend, identified as YTR, over a three-year period, has finally been arrested. He was apprehended by a joint team from the West Java Regional Police on Tuesday evening, 23 June 2026.

Prior to his arrest, Taufik was known to have contacted YTR’s parents. This information was conveyed directly by YTR during a conversation with Denny Sumargo’s team at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung.

What exactly did the perpetrator communicate to YTR’s parents? According to YTR’s account, Taufik claimed he was worried about her. “Yesterday, the perpetrator reportedly messaged my parents, saying he was concerned,” YTR stated, as quoted from Denny Sumargo’s YouTube broadcast on Wednesday, 24 June 2026.

YTR expressed her hope that the perpetrator of the abuse against her receives the maximum sentence, namely the death penalty. In her view, such a punishment would be commensurate with the suffering she endured over the past three years due to his actions. “I want the perpetrator to at least face the death penalty, so he knows what I went through,” she said.

The Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, confirmed Taufik Hidayat’s arrest by the joint team on Tuesday evening, 23 June 2026. “Just confirming that he has been arrested. That’s all,” he stated on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.

Although confirming the suspect’s arrest, the police remain tight-lipped about the details of the operation. Hendra only disclosed that Taufik was apprehended in the Greater Bandung area. “In the Greater Bandung area (he was arrested),” he said.

For context, a woman from Rancaekek, Bandung Regency, West Java, is believed to have been a victim of confinement and abuse by her boyfriend. The woman, identified by the initials YTR, was allegedly held captive by the perpetrator, Taufik Hidayat, in a rented room and had been reported missing by her family for three years. After the victim had introduced her boyfriend to her parents, the family lost contact with YTR for years. She was eventually found in a distressing condition with severe injuries resulting from the alleged confinement and abuse. The confinement is suspected to have occurred in a rented room leased by Taufik Hidayat in the Bandung Regency area. The relatively quiet environment of the boarding house is believed to have made the perpetrator’s activities difficult for local residents to detect.
