Before-and-After of Kampar Bridge in Riau Set for Official Opening by Police Chief
Infrastructure in Gobah Village, Kecamatan Tambang, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, has undergone a dramatic transformation. A bridge connecting residents that was previously timber-based has been transformed into a sturdy concrete structure. Detailed before-and-after photographs document the change.
According to Polda Riau documentation dated Thursday, 12 March 2026, the bridge was originally built with a timber foundation. The wood had become rotten and full of holes, posing a safety risk to residents crossing it.
The contrast is now striking. The bridge now stands firmly in place, allowing residents to cross safely with a concrete base and iron safety railings on both sides.
Riau Police Regional Chief Irjen Pol Herry Heryawan has conducted final inspections of the bridge, which is scheduled to be officially inaugurated by National Police Chief (Kapolri) Jenderal Listyo Sigit Prabowo. On Tuesday, 10 March, the Regional Chief personally monitored the readiness of facilities and infrastructure at the site.
During these activities, the Regional Chief, accompanied by Kampar Police Chief AKBP Bobby Putra Ramadhan Sebayang, also oversaw the painting of the bridge floor and wall pilings to enhance their appearance in preparation for the official ceremony.
The “Jembatan Merah Putih Presisi” (Red-and-White Precision Bridge) has specifications of 27.5 metres in length and 4 metres in width. This infrastructure has been designed to be sufficiently robust to accommodate four-wheeled vehicles (motorcars), with the expectation that it will improve accessibility and the local economy for residents.
Beyond the bridge itself, surrounding roads have also been concreted to ensure structural stability and prevent erosion. This was undertaken to provide maximum comfort for users and ensure long-term road durability.
Currently, final preparations are being expedited by Polda Riau and Polres Kampar. In addition to area clearing, road marking painting and the installation of street lighting have been completed.
Aesthetic improvements around the bridge demonstrate full readiness to welcome National Police Chief Jenderal Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who is scheduled to officially inaugurate the Red-and-White Precision Bridge the following week.
The presence of the Kapolri to inaugurate the bridge in Kampar will serve as a tangible symbol that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) is not only present in law enforcement, but also plays an active role in driving community welfare through infrastructure support.
This bridge transformation is concrete evidence that synergy between government agencies and the police can produce genuine solutions to accessibility challenges in remote areas. With the inauguration just days away, Kampar residents now look towards a brighter economic future underpinned by this sturdy concrete structure.
