A number of beef traders at Kosambi Market in Bandung have stopped selling due to unstable prices from Sunday 17 May 2026 to Monday 18 May 2026. The walkout is a protest against prices that have tended to be unstable. Kosambi Market Unit Head Yayan Agustina Gunawan said the beef traders’ strike is suspected to be because of the unstable prices. He noted the situation has left consumers confused about buying beef and led them to switch to chicken meat. ‘We understand they haven’t been selling since yesterday; there was a price rise,’ he said on Monday 18 May 2026. He added that the beef traders find it hard to raise prices for fear of losing customers. They were selling at around Rp 140,000 to Rp 160,000 per kilogram. ‘Earlier I chatted with a shopper; some said they had also shifted to chicken meat,’ he said.
