Entering the fourth day after Eid, activities in traditional markets are beginning to resume, although not yet fully normal. Several traders at Pasar Rumput in South Jakarta have returned to selling, while some stalls remain closed.

Based on observations by CNBC Indonesia at the location, prices of several food commodities such as beef, chicken, and chicken eggs are still at high levels, though some are showing declines compared to during Eid.

Beef trader Asep said the current beef price is at Rp150,000 per kg for the thigh cut.

“Rp150,000 per kg for the thigh, front or back the same at Rp150,000 per kg, the thigh part for rendang,” said Asep when met at the location on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

He revealed that beef prices were higher during the Eid momentum last week. According to him, beef prices reached Rp160,000 per kg on H-1 and H-2 before Eid.

“On H-1 or H-2, it reached Rp160,000 per kg for beef in the Jakarta area, if outside Jakarta it seems some reached Rp170,000-Rp180,000 per kg. But in Jakarta, it was Rp160,000 per kg,” he said.

Regarding future price movements, Asep said it still depends on supplies from the slaughterhouse.

“I don’t know, it depends on the butchers. I’m just following here, buying or taking goods from there. If there it rises, how can it not rise here, I’d be at a loss,” he said.

Meanwhile, chicken prices were observed at around Rp35,000 per kg. Chicken trader Surya said he sells chicken weighing 1 kg 5 oz for Rp50,000 per bird.

“Per kilo Rp35,000. But we sell per bird, that one 1 kg 5 oz Rp50,000,” said Surya.

He mentioned that chicken prices rose slightly during Eid, but not significantly.

“It rose a bit during Eid, but not much. Didn’t exceed Rp40,000 per kg,” he said.

Surya admitted he does not know the exact cause of the price increase, but he just follows the price from the supplier, namely the poultry slaughterhouse price.

“I don’t know much, from there I buy at around Rp30,000 per kg I think earlier, anyway after calculating clean to the main market it’s Rp35,000 per kg,” he explained.

On the other hand, chicken egg prices are starting to decline, though still considered high. Egg trader Teri said the current egg price is at Rp32,000 per kg.

“Eggs are Rp32,000 per kg,” said Teri.

She mentioned that the price has already dropped compared to during Eid.

“This has already dropped. Yesterday during Eid it was Rp33,000 per kg. Now it’s dropped to Rp32,000,” she said.

According to her, the price decline only happened today and is still likely to continue. “Just today. Later it will drop more probably,” she said.

The same was conveyed by another egg trader, Sukma.

“Today Rp32,000 per kg,” said Sukma.

She added that egg prices had previously risen during Eid due to high demand.

“Just dropped. Yesterday during Eid it rose to Rp33,000 per kg, probably because many were looking for it. Now it’s starting to drop to Rp32,000 per kg,” she explained.
