BOGOR – A number of essential commodity prices at Anyar Market in Bogor have begun to rise ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri. The increases have predominantly affected beef and chilli, which are in high demand as consumers prepare for Ramadan and Eid celebrations. One beef trader at Anyar Market, Adang, stated that beef prices have currently reached Rp 150,000 per kilogramme, up from the previous range of Rp 135,000 to Rp 140,000 per kilogramme. “Now it is Rp 150,000 per kilogramme, it has risen. Previously it was Rp 135,000 to Rp 140,000; now it has gone up to Rp 150,000, as of yesterday,” said Adang at Anyar Market, Bogor, on Saturday (14 March 2026). Adang estimates that beef prices could potentially rise further to Rp 160,000 per kilogramme as Eid approaches. He acknowledged that the price increase has also impacted sales, as some buyers have become reluctant to purchase meat. Normally, beef prices range from Rp 120,000 to Rp 125,000 per kilogramme. “Rp 160,000 would be the maximum price. Even at this level, many buyers are unwilling to follow the prices. What can we do; if we do not raise our prices, we have no stock,” he explained. “We also sometimes struggle to sell; we offer Rp 150,000 and sometimes buyers still refuse,” he added. Beyond beef, chilli prices at Anyar Market have also risen. Chilli trader Agam stated that red chilli prices have currently reached Rp 110,000 per kilogramme ahead of Eid. However, this price has actually declined compared to early Ramadan, when prices reached Rp 150,000 per kilogramme. He noted that normal red chilli prices typically range from Rp 50,000 to Rp 60,000 per kilogramme. In addition to red chilli, green chilli prices have also risen to Rp 60,000 per kilogramme, whereas normal prices range from Rp 36,000 to Rp 40,000 per kilogramme. “Green chilli is currently high as well at Rp 60,000. From the usual Rp 36,000 to Rp 40,000, it is now Rp 60,000,” he said.
