Beef Prices in West Aceh Reach Rp170,000/kg on 19 March 2026

Beef prices on 19 March 2026 in West Aceh, specifically in Meulaboh, have risen to Rp170,000 per kilogram. Beef is used for the meugang tradition to welcome Eid al-Fitr 1447/2026.

According to the Head of the West Aceh District Trade, Industry, Cooperatives, and SMEs Office, Khairuzzadi, the beef price increase is due to the high demand from the public ahead of Lebaran 2026.

On normal days, beef prices in the area range between Rp120,000 and Rp140,000 per kilogram.

He stated that the West Aceh District Government has recorded prices for fresh buffalo and beef sold by traders at the Induk Bina Usaha Market Complex in Meulaboh, the capital of the district, ranging from Rp160,000 to Rp170,000 per kilogram.

According to Khairuzzadi, during the meugang tradition for Eid al-Fitr, traders claim they must adjust the purchase price of livestock, thus increasing beef prices.

The meugang tradition is a custom to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 144 Hijriah.

He added that the selling price of fresh meat at the trader level is due to the large number of people buying beef. Therefore, the price increase is situational.
