Beef prices in Bogor reach Rp145,000 per kilogram, traders say the dollar rise is to blame

Beef prices at Pasar Anyar in Bogor City rose to Rp145,000 per kilogram, up from Rp130,000 per kilogram. One meat trader, Ilyas (32), said the price increase has been in place since Eid al-Fitr 2026. He often receives complaints from buyers about the high prices, with some delaying purchases.

‘It’s expensive; purchasing power has weakened. People think twice before buying. Normally it’s Rp 130,000, if it were normal,’ he added.

He usually brings 60 kg of meat to sell, but due to the price rise he now brings only about 30 kg.

However, Ilyas believes that selling at Rp150,000 would burden buyers and would not be profitable.

‘If we want to make a profit, we would sell at Rp150,000. But customers don’t want it. So if we want stability, we sell at Rp150,000 but it’s too heavy for customers,’ he said.

He prefers to sell at Rp140,000 to Rp145,000 with a capital outlay of Rp135,000 to source from Rumah Potong Hewan (RPH) Bubulak.

‘Mau gimana lagi. Kita kan ini porsinya porsi bertahan. Enggak jualan bingung, jualan juga bingung. Mending jualan dulu aja,’ he explained.

Dani (22), another meat trader, says price increases have been evident since Eid al-Fitr 2026, from Rp125,000 to Rp130,000. However, he adds, selling prices have risen to Rp140,000 to Rp145,000.
