The best opportunities are not always measured by the height of the achievement, but by how much benefit can be shared with others. This is the principle held by Tiara Sari, an Informatics student at the Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSK) Pontianak campus, following her selection as the 2026 Google Student Ambassador (GSA) Indonesia.

For Tiara, being part of the Google Student Ambassador programme is more than just a personal achievement. The role provides an opportunity to create a more open, collaborative learning space that is relevant to technological developments, ensuring students have broader access to understanding the Google AI ecosystem in both academic and industrial contexts.

“Being a Google Student Ambassador is not just about an achievement. I want this opportunity to be a beginning for sharing, inviting my peers to learn together, and demonstrating that technology can be a tool that helps us grow when used wisely,” Tiara stated in a press release on Thursday.

Drawing from her experience as an Informatics student, Tiara understands that the learning process in the field of technology is continuous. The evolution of programming languages, constantly updated technical documentation, and the emergence of new technologies require students to constantly adapt.

Amidst these dynamics, Tiara began utilising various services within the Google AI ecosystem, such as Gemini AI and NotebookLM, as companions in her learning process. She uses Gemini AI to explore programming concepts, understand algorithmic logic, and discuss various problem-solving approaches. Meanwhile, NotebookLM helps her process scientific journals, technical documentation, and learning references into more easily understandable material.

This experience led Tiara to realise that artificial intelligence is not a replacement for thinking ability. Instead, technology can serve as a supporting tool that helps students learn more effectively, provided it is used responsibly.

What began as a personal learning solution has evolved into a movement for sharing. Since being selected as the 2026 Google Student Ambassador Indonesia, Tiara has organised seven educational activities, including workshops, seminars, and sharing sessions regarding the use of Google AI for students. Through these activities, she encourages participants to use technology as a support for the learning process while simultaneously increasing AI literacy within the campus environment.

In every session, she does not only introduce various Google AI technologies but also invites students to understand how to utilise them to support learning, research, project preparation, and software development.

According to Tiara, the development of AI should be an opportunity for students to improve the quality of their learning, rather than an excuse to reduce critical thinking processes. “Technology can help us work faster, but the ability to understand concepts, analyse problems, and find solutions must still be developed by ourselves. AI is a learning companion, not a replacement for the learning process,” she said.

Tiara’s spirit of sharing is beginning to make an impact on the campus environment. Students participating in various educational sessions are becoming more open to using technology as a learning aid. They have begun using Google AI to help understand complex materials, manage academic references, organise project documentation, and explore new ideas in software development.

Beyond merely introducing technology, Tiara aims to build a collaborative learning culture. She believes the academic environment flourishes when students share knowledge, discuss, and grow together in the face of ongoing technological changes.

Tiara’s initiatives have received support from the UBSI Pontianak campus. The university views student involvement in national and global programmes as part of the effort to build human resources that are adaptive, innovative, and ready to face the challenges of the professional world.

The Head of UBSI Pontianak, Eri Bayu Pratama, stated that Tiara’s achievement demonstrates that students possess the ability to compete and take roles in the development of digital technology.

“We appreciate Tiara’s achievement as the 2026 Google Student Ambassador Indonesia. This achievement is proof that UBSI Pontianak students are capable of demonstrating competence and contributing to the technology ecosystem at a national level. What is even more prideful is that the experience gained does not stop as a personal achievement, but is shared back through various activities that benefit other students. The campus will continue to support the emergence of students who are not only academically excellent but also capable of being drivers of collaboration, innovation, and digital transformation within society,” said Eri.
