Beckham Putra: I Always Give 100 Percent for Indonesia
Criticism and doubts from a section of supporters have not changed Beckham Putra’s commitment to defend the Indonesian national team. The 24-year-old midfielder affirmed he will continue to give his best every time he wears the Garuda emblem on his chest. The statement was made by Beckham a day after he received unpleasant treatment from an unscrupulous supporter following the national team’s match against Mozambique at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/6/2026) evening. In a video circulating on social media, the Persib Bandung player was seen involved in a confrontation with a supporter before being calmed down by his teammate, Kevin Diks. Through a post on his personal Instagram account, Beckham emphasised that the various negative comments directed at him would not reduce his dedication to the Red and White team. “I always give 100 percent, even more, of my ability for Indonesia. Whatever is said out there will not change my commitment to continue fighting for the Red and White,” Beckham wrote. The player, who has also led Persib to achievements at club level, chose to make the experience part of the maturation process in his career. According to him, every challenge that comes becomes motivation to continue developing. Beckham considers the opportunity to defend the Indonesian national team not merely a personal achievement. He mentioned that a national team call-up is the result of a long journey, hard work, sacrifice, and a dream fought for since long ago. Therefore, every player who has the opportunity to wear the national team kit bears a great responsibility to carry the hopes of millions of Indonesians. For him, that trust is an honour that must be guarded wholeheartedly. “So when a player steps forward to defend Indonesia, I stand as a son of the nation entrusted to carry the hopes of millions of Indonesian people,” said Beckham. Since making his debut with the senior national team in June last year, Beckham has collected eight appearances and scored two goals. Both goals were scored when Indonesia won 4-0 against Saint Kitts and Nevis in the debut match of coach John Herdman last March. In the last two matches, Beckham has continued to receive trust in the Garuda squad. He appeared as a starter when Indonesia defeated Oman 3-0 before being played again, albeit only briefly, in the 1-0 victory over Mozambique.
