Bebizie Explains Singing Fee During KPK Investigation into Former Kukar Regent Case
Jakarta, VIVA – DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) member Bebizie Sri Mulyati has completed her examination by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as a witness in a case of alleged gratuities related to coal mining in Kutai Kartanegara Regency. Bebizie arrived at the KPK’s Merah Putih building at approximately 09.45 WIB and finished her questioning at 14.43 WIB.
Following the examination, Bebizie stated that investigators had questioned her about singing engagements she fulfilled between 2017 and 2018. Before entering politics, the 1982-born artist was widely known to the public as a singer.
‘I came to fulfil the KPK’s summons to assist with the investigation today. I was examined in my capacity as a singer, having performed at an event in East Kalimantan, so I was asked about the connection,’ Bebizie told reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih building on Thursday, 13 August 2026.
She explained that at the time, she was invited by a company to provide entertainment by singing. ‘I explained that in 2017–18, I sang several times in East Kalimantan, invited by a company,’ she clarified. Bebizie confirmed that the money she received was payment for her services as a singer several years ago. ‘God willing, it has been accounted for, because indeed I was a singer at the time,’ she asserted.
The alleged corruption case in Kutai Kartanegara began in 2017 when former Regent Rita Widyasari was named a suspect for alleged gratuities alongside Hery Susanto Gun, Director of PT Sawit Golden Prima, and Khairudin, a commissioner of PT Media Bangun Bersama. Rita allegedly received a bribe of Rp6 billion in connection with the issuance of a plantation location permit for PT Sawit Golden Prima in Kupang Baru Village, Muara Kaman District. Following the initial gratuity charges, the KPK took further legal action, and on 16 January 2018, Rita Widyasari and Khairudin were also named suspects in a money laundering case.
