Beauties meet Governor Surjadi

JAKARTA (JP): Governor Surjadi Soedirdja received 31 finalists
of a beauty contest at his residence on Jl. Taman Suropati,
Central Jakarta on Sunday.

The visit was a courtesy call. The women were previously
received by Minister/State Secretary Moerdiono.

Surjadi told the "beauties" the importance of improving human
resources to cope with global competition.

The women also presented 1,000 trees to officials at the
Menteng Tenggulun subdistrict in South Jakarta to be planted in
the area.

Five of the 31 women represented five municipalities in
Jakarta, and the remaining 26 represented other provinces in the
