Beating the Marawis Drum: Building Confidence Among People with Disabilities
The sound of rebana and the beat of the marawis drum resonate with spirit from a training room in Jakarta. For people with disabilities, the rhythm played is not merely a musical tune, but a space to express themselves, hone their abilities, and build self-confidence. Through a marawis music training programme facilitated by the West Jakarta Culture Sub-department, the government is striving to provide equal opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in the arts while developing their potential.
