Beach PON to be held at Ancol in November

The 2026 National Beach Games (PON Pantai) will be held at Ancol, Jakarta, at the end of November.

The PON Pantai, which will feature aquatics (open water swimming, water polo), diving, 3x3 basketball, beach handball, volleyball, modern pentathlon, triathlon, teqball, rugby and sailing, is a collaboration between KONI Pusat, the Provincial Government and KONI DKI Jakarta, and Jaya Ancol.

“I see Ancol as a very ready and ideal venue for the first PON Pantai to be held in November 2026,” said KONI Pusat Chairman Letjen TNI Purn. Marciano Norman in an official statement on Wednesday.

“Ancol visitors will witness Indonesia’s best athletes competing. This is good sports tourism, because athlete performance is witnessed at a tourism location, so there is added value beyond achievement,” he added.

Marciano explained that this first-ever event was initiated with reference to the Beach Games at the international level, therefore KONI Pusat is also organising a national-level Beach Games.

“This is the first PON Pantai, please cooperate because this will leave a good impression for the next PON Pantai,” he stressed.

KONI Pusat Deputy Chairman I Mayjen TNI Purn Dr. Suwarno emphasised reducing the implementation time to one week.

“Make use of what already exists. The events contested are adjusted to the potential of the venue,” Suwarno continued.

Later, in each sport there will be regulations regarding the minimum requirement of five participating provinces for that sport to contest the event.
