BDO Indonesia and West Java Provincial Government Strengthen ESG Implementation and Investment Facilitation
BDO Indonesia and the West Java Provincial Government have agreed to collaborate on strengthening economic integration and investment attraction in the region. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the West Java Governor’s Office in the Gedung Sate building in Bandung.
BDO Indonesia is one of the world’s largest networks of public accountancy, tax, and advisory firms. The MoU signing represents an important milestone in strengthening synergy between the public and private sectors to promote the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and increase investment ease and attractiveness in West Java Province.
The event was attended by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, Rebana Management Board Executive Head Helmi Yahya, BDO Indonesia CEO Thano Tanubrata, and other stakeholders. The presence of these leaders underscores shared commitment to driving regional economic transformation based on good governance and sustainability principles.
Through this collaboration, BDO Indonesia will serve as a strategic ESG partner to the West Java Provincial Government and companies operating in the region, particularly those in the Rebana Metropolitan Area. This role encompasses support in ESG capacity building, ESG strategy development, and corporate governance strengthening.
Additionally, BDO Indonesia will support West Java Province’s initiative to become an outstanding and investor-friendly investment destination for foreign investors planning to invest in the region. Such support will ensure the investment process runs more effectively and in accordance with global standards.
Most Strategic Region
On this occasion, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that the Rebana Area, which includes Cirebon, Subang, Majalengka, and Kuningan, is the most strategic region because it is integrated with major infrastructure such as the Cisumdawu and Cipali toll roads and Patimban Port.
“Our vision is to realise a centre of new industrial growth that brings prosperity to the people of West Java through the principle of mutual symbiosis. Industry develops rapidly whilst environmental sustainability is maintained. The spirit of mutual learning, mutual care, and mutual support forms the foundation of our effort to build West Java’s future,” he emphasised.
Meanwhile, Helmi Yahya, Executive Chair of the Rebana Management Board, stressed the importance of global collaboration in attracting quality investment.
“Strategic collaboration with BDO Indonesia’s advisory team, as one of the world’s ‘Big Five’ consultants, is a key step to attract global investment, not only to the Rebana area, but for the advancement of all West Java. With a network spanning more than 100 countries, BDO’s presence will educate us in effectively engaging international investors and supporting ESG aspect strengthening. This partnership ensures Rebana develops as a sustainable, competitive economic corridor with world-class credibility standards,” he added.
Strategic Partner
Regarding this collaboration, BDO Indonesia CEO Thano Tanubrata expressed his hopes for the partnership.
“BDO Indonesia is very optimistic about becoming a strategic partner in this project. We are supported by an experienced professional team with strong capabilities in ESG, governance, and investment advisory,” he explained.
BDO Indonesia, he added, is part of the global BDO International network. With support from this network, they are ready to deliver international standards and global best practices at every stage of project implementation.
“We also provide one-stop services such as audit, tax, legal, and various other advisory services to comprehensively support companies if further support is needed in this project,” he asserted.
This collaboration is expected to strengthen West Java’s position as a leading investment destination in Indonesia while driving inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
The Rebana Metropolitan Area itself is projected to become one of West Java’s new economic growth centres, making the integration of ESG practices and investment facilitation key factors in attracting domestic and international investors.
As a professional services firm with a global network, BDO Indonesia is committed to delivering integrated solutions that support regional sustainable development. This collaboration reflects aligned vision in building a competitive, transparent, and long-term oriented business ecosystem.
The partnership also reaffirms BDO Indonesia’s role in supporting the regional economic transformation agenda through a strategic approach that prioritises good governance and sustainability principles.
