Halal certification for MSMEs can serve as a guarantee of product quality, increase consumer confidence, and act as a gateway to business blessings.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - BCA Syariah believes that halal certification provides added value to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly ahead of the implementation of Mandatory Halal regulations in October 2026.

“Halal certification for MSMEs can serve as a guarantee of product quality, increase consumer confidence, and simultaneously act as a gateway to blessings in the businesses being run,” said BCA Syariah Director Ina Widjaja in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

In addition to the implementation of halal certification, Ina stated that financial management training for MSME players is also crucial in the effort to advance businesses and the halal value chain ecosystem in Indonesia.

“Halal certification, financial management knowledge, and familiarity with BCA Syarel products are the initial steps to seizing opportunities towards success and blessings in the business journey,” said Ina.

On another note, BCA Syariah, together with the Istiqlal Halal Center (IHC), presented halal certificates to 49 MSME players in the Jabodetabek area as support for business development and readiness for the Mandatory Halal implementation.

“This activity is one of our efforts to support the sharia economic ecosystem and the halal industry in Indonesia,” said Ina.

Beyond the halal guarantee, BCA Syariah also provided financial management training for MSMEs, designed to help entrepreneurs record daily income and expenses more neatly, ensuring that business capital is not mixed with household needs and that business profits can be clearly measured.

During this activity, participants were also further introduced to BCA Syariah banking products, such as QRIS, savings, and investment needs that can support the development of MSME businesses.

Ina stated that the collaboration between BCA Syariah and the Istiqlal Halal Center is a tangible manifestation of accompanying the financial journey of the community from their first steps, including MSME entrepreneurs.

In addition to halal certification with IHC, BCA Syariah, through its Peduli Sejahtera programme, also organises various support and development programmes for MSMEs. Some of these include WEpreneur and the coaching of mustahik MSMEs in partnership with BAZNAS.

In terms of performance as of July 2024, BCA Syariah also recorded a growth in Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) financing of 21.2 per cent, reaching Rp1.1 trillion.

This increase was supported, among other things, by financing growth in the retail and wholesale trade segments, which contributed 21.7 per cent of total SME financing.

“Furthermore, this development is also supported by the household industry, as well as the processing industry,” said Ina.
