BCA Supports Earth Hour 2026 to Preserve the Environment and Save Energy
PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is once again supporting the Earth Hour 2026 programme as part of a global campaign on climate change. Amid geopolitical conditions that also affect the energy sector, this moment is being utilised by BCA to continue promoting energy efficiency in the company’s operations.
On the Earth Hour 2026 commemoration, BCA will turn off lights and non-essential electronic equipment on Saturday (28 March) at its operational buildings and BCA branches across various regions in Indonesia, from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm local time. Although the shutdown will occur during Earth Hour, BCA ensures that banking services and the ATM network continue to operate normally to meet customer transaction needs.
Since 2019, BCA has consistently participated in the Earth Hour commemoration and recorded electricity savings from the participation of its operational buildings during the campaign. In the 2025 Earth Hour commemoration, 962 BCA office units participated in turning off the electricity for one hour.
BCA’s contribution to supporting the Earth Hour commemoration is part of efforts to improve electricity usage efficiency throughout the year. This is reflected in the electricity energy usage intensity at BCA, which has consistently decreased to 131 kWh/m² in 2025.
EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility at BCA, Hera F Haryn, revealed that BCA’s involvement in Earth Hour is part of the company’s consistency in implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) values. She stated that this simple action has strong meaning in increasing awareness of the need for serious action to address global climate change through energy-saving actions.
“BCA’s participation in Earth Hour is not merely an annual action, but a real step in supporting energy resilience and anticipating climate change. We want this contribution to be followed by many parties in the hope of having the same awareness to preserve this earth,” she said, quoted from a press release received on Saturday (28 March).
Hera added that BCA is also actively encouraging its employees and customers to participate in this movement through communication activations on social media channels with the hashtags #IniAksiku and #SatuJamUntukBumi.
“BCA also wants to encourage individuals, communities, and customers to be part of the change for a sustainable world. Awareness to turn off lights and electronic equipment for just one hour, if done collectively, will have a very significant impact on environmental improvement,” Hera concluded.
