PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is providing convenience for transactions and shopping for Indonesian citizens in South Korea through the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) feature in myBCA. The implementation of cross-border QRIS in South Korea, initiated through collaboration between Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Bank of Korea, was officially launched on 1 April 2026. “BCA is ready to support the implementation of cross-border QRIS services in South Korea. We appreciate Bank Indonesia’s initiative in developing cross-border QRIS as an easy, fast, and efficient payment solution for Indonesians abroad,” said BCA President Director Hendra Lembong in Jakarta on Friday. He stated that the launch of this feature marks an important milestone in delivering a more efficient and inclusive cross-border payment system, as well as expanding Indonesia’s digital payment ecosystem internationally. Cross-border QRIS is now used in five countries: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea. Bank Indonesia recorded that the total number of cross-border QRIS transactions reached more than 7.6 million transactions up to early 2026, consisting of 5.9 million inbound transactions and 1.7 million outbound transactions by Indonesians abroad. Hendra explained that his company has also contributed to the development of these cross-border QRIS transactions. The volume of cross-border QRIS transactions processed by the company’s system increased 185% year-on-year by the end of December 2025. In the same period, the recorded transaction value reached Rp632 billion, or an increase of 148% year-on-year. “So far, cross-border QRIS has supported the needs of customers active abroad, from daily retail transactions and consumption to payments in the tourism and lifestyle sectors,” added Hendra Lembong. The cross-border QRIS service can be used via the myBCA or BCA mobile application through the following steps: 1. Open the myBCA or BCA mobile application; 2. Select the QRIS/scan QR feature; 3. Scan the QR code at foreign merchants supporting QRIS; 4. The transaction amount will automatically be converted to rupiah; 5. Confirm the payment using the PIN.
