BCA Enables Cross-Border QRIS Transactions in South Korea: How to Do It via myBCA and BCA Mobile Apps
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, or BCA, is facilitating the use of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) cross-border payment system in South Korea.
BCA President Director Hendra Lembong stated that with the launch of the Indonesia-South Korea QRIS since 1 April, Indonesians can use QRIS for transactions in South Korea.
This cross-border QRIS service can be accessed via the myBCA or BCA Mobile apps.
“BCA is ready to support the implementation of the QRIS Cross Border service in South Korea,” he said in a written statement, quoted on Thursday (23/4/2026).
The implementation of QRIS with South Korea was initiated by Bank Indonesia as part of strengthening payment system connectivity.
“We appreciate Bank Indonesia’s initiative in developing QRIS Cross Border as an easy, fast, and efficient payment solution for Indonesians abroad,” he added.
In addition to South Korea, Indonesians can also use cross-border QRIS for transactions in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, or Japan.
Similar to South Korea, customers can use cross-border QRIS through the myBCA or BCA Mobile apps when visiting those five countries.
BCA’s system recorded a 185% year-on-year increase in cross-border QRIS transaction volume by the end of 2025.
In the same period, the transaction value reached Rp 632 billion, up 148% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, overall, Bank Indonesia recorded more than 7.6 million cross-border QRIS transactions up to early this year.
Those transactions consisted of 5.9 million inbound transactions and 1.7 million outbound transactions by Indonesians abroad.
“So far, QRIS Cross Border has supported customer needs for activities abroad, from daily retail transactions and consumption to payments in the tourism and lifestyle sectors. BCA remains committed to developing and expanding digital services to meet the evolving needs of customers,” he explained.
