BCA Chief Shares Message for Candidates to Replace Perry Warjiyo as Bank Indonesia Governor

Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo has officially announced his resignation from his post for personal reasons. The move has drawn widespread responses from various parties regarding his replacement, including from the banking sector.

President Director of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA), or BCA, Hendra Lembong expressed hope that BI’s new leadership can continue to help Indonesian economic growth improve further going forward.

“Regarding the question of the BI Governor, we await further news. My message for the candidates is simply to always be spirited in helping Indonesia’s economic growth so that it becomes even better,” said Hendra at a press conference on BCA’s First-Half 2026 performance in Jakarta on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.

Regarding the leadership transition at the central bank, Hendra said his side continues to monitor the current dynamics and developments.

In line with this, BCA’s EVP of Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility, Hera F Haryn, expressed her hope that BI’s new leadership can jointly drive national economic growth.

“Regarding the new Governor of Bank Indonesia, we hope to continue encouraging them to work together to grow the national economy — truly together,” said Hera.

In principle, BCA supports the efforts of the government and regulators to strengthen the financial services industry, and is committed to running its business while upholding the principle of prudence and applying disciplined risk management.

As is widely known, Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi stated that President Prabowo Subianto has accepted the resignation of BI Governor Perry Warjiyo and will follow it up in accordance with the mechanism set out in the Bank Indonesia Law.

Prasetyo added that, pursuant to the provisions of the Bank Indonesia Law, the post of BI Governor will temporarily be held by Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti until a definitive governor is appointed.

“Going forward, in accordance with the Bank Indonesia Law, the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia will automatically be held by the Senior Deputy Governor, who will then carry out all duties as Acting Governor. For the record, the Senior Deputy Governor in question is Mrs Destry Damayanti,” said Prasetyo.
