Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) has teamed up with the Indonesian Travel Agent Association (Astindo) to promote Bukit Peramun, Belitung, to international tourists from Malaysia and Singapore through a familiarisation trip to the BCA-supported Bakti village.

BCA’s EVP of Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility, Hera F. Haryn, stated that the effort aims to broaden market access for international tourists to the tourism village while simultaneously increasing the competitiveness of community-based tourist destinations.

“The presence of tourism industry players from Singapore and Malaysia in this activity is expected to be a concrete step towards opening new market opportunities and strengthening the position of Bukit Perumun as a leading Indonesian ecotourism destination on the global stage,” Hera F. Haryn said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

She explained that the familiarisation trip serves as a platform to bring tourism village managers together with international industry players, allowing them to directly experience the potential and tourism offerings of Bukit Peramun.

During the visit, participants were led through the Bukit Peramun conservation forest area via trekking trails, introduced to Belitung’s endemic and herbal plants, and participated in tree adoption activities. Participants were also introduced to the ‘Virtual Assistance & Kenali Pohon’ (KePo) digital application, which assists visitors in identifying various flora species within the area.

“By offering a pristine natural forest panorama, we believe this village holds high potential in the international market if supported by proper access and promotion,” Hera said.

The journey continued to several natural attraction points, including Batu Kembar, Batu Ampar, and the summit of Bukit Peramun. Participants enjoyed the sunset panorama from the heights, sampled local coffee and culinary delights, and participated in tarsier watching—an activity involving the endemic wildlife that serves as a key ecotourism draw in Belitung.

“Through this programme, we hope to open collaboration opportunities that encourage increased international tourist visits and provide sustainable economic benefits to the local community, without neglecting the aspects of conservation and environmental preservation,” Hera added.

Bukit Peramun has been managed by the Arsel Community Forest Group (HKm) since 2006. International tourist arrivals have seen a recorded increase from 387 people in 2023 to 485 people in 2025, while domestic tourist visits rose from 1,356 in 2024 to 1,648 in 2025.
