BBY celebrates 23rd anniversary

YOGYAKARTA: Commemorating its 23rd anniversary, which will fall on Sept. 26 this year, Bentara Budaya Yogyakarta has prepared a series of events and programs for the whole month.

The "Megolitikum Yu Tum Part One" concert featuring, among others, Jaduk Ferianto's Sinten Remen Keroncong Orchestra and local comedians Hedro Pleret and Gareng Rakasiwi opens the whole series of programs on Sept. 2.

"Megolitikum Yu Tum Part Two" will be performed on Sept. 12, while "Part Three" will be performed on Sept. 17.

Other events include painting exhibitions Tanda Mata V, Ayo Ngguyu and Pencerahan; graphic art exhibition Muur Jangkung; photo exhibition Ayo Ngguyu, and a traditional drama or Kethoprak performance featuring noted comedians such as Marwoto, Den Baguse Ngarso and Yu Beruk.

A film screening at the month's end will conclude the celebration. Among the films to be screened include The Gods Must Be Crazy, Dumb and Dumber, Flying Tigers, Pearl Harbor, Killing Field, and Che Guevara: The Last Hours. --JP
