The Brantas River Basin Centre (BBWS Brantas) sent a tanker lorry carrying 5,000 litres of clean water to Komis Village, Kedungdung Subdistrict, Sampang Regency, on Tuesday (28 July 2026) at 14.10 Western Indonesian Time. The delivery was a follow-up to reports of critical drought submitted by residents through Regional Post 4.

Previously, the surface water source relied upon by the local community had dried up, forcing some residents to buy water independently. The emergency situation prompted residents to report the water crisis to BBWS Brantas through its “Report a Drought” campaign.

The emergency relief was realised around three days after residents first submitted their report to Regional Post 4 on Saturday (25 July 2026). After a monitoring form was completed on Sunday (26 July) and full data verification took place on Monday (27 July), the water tanker fleet was deployed and arrived at the location on Tuesday afternoon.

Upon arrival, the 5,000-litre supply of clean water was distributed at three points across Komis Village according to residents’ needs. The distribution was prioritised for those most struggling to obtain water for basic needs such as cooking, drinking and bathing.

The speed of the response was welcomed positively by the community. “We express our gratitude to BBWS Brantas for their swift response to residents’ reports. This clean water assistance is extremely helpful for the community, which has faced difficulties meeting daily needs in recent days. We hope long-term solutions such as the construction of borewells and water storage tanks can also be realised,” said Amin Jufri, a resident of Komis Village.

According to information from Regional Post 4, the aid distribution was carried out after residents’ reports and field data were verified administratively through BBWS Brantas’ drought monitoring mechanism.

With the clean water assistance realised, the report previously submitted by Komis Village residents through Regional Post 4 has culminated in emergency handling in the field. Residents hope this rapid response marks the first step towards a more sustainable resolution so that the water crisis does not recur every dry season.
