BBPMP West Java states that TKA helps map students' abilities in Cirebon
Cirebon (ANTARA) - The Balai Besar Penjaminan Mutu Pendidikan (BBPMP) of West Java province states that the Academic Ability Test (TKA) serves as an instrument to help map the academic abilities of primary school (SD) students as material for improving learning.
Head of BBPMP West Java, Komalasari, said that this mapping is carried out through the implementation of TKA by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), which is starting to be held nationally, including in Cirebon City.
“Today we are monitoring the implementation of TKA for the primary school level in Cirebon City. This is the first day of national implementation,” she said in Cirebon on Monday.
According to her, TKA is designed to assess students’ academic achievements in the main subjects of mathematics and Indonesian, covering aspects of numeracy and literacy.
“Through TKA, we can see the academic achievements of primary school students, particularly in literacy and numeracy,” she stated.
In addition to mapping, she said, TKA results will also be used as one component in the Student Admission Selection (SPMB) via the achievement pathway.
Komalasari conveyed that TKA scores will be combined with report card grades as a balance in the selection process.
“So, TKA results become one of the requirements for the SPMB achievement pathway, combined with report card grades,” she said.
She emphasised that TKA does not determine student graduation, as the authority for graduation remains with each school.
In its implementation, she continued, BBPMP West Java plays a role in providing guidance from the planning stage to execution in the regions.
This guidance includes ensuring the readiness of facilities and infrastructure, coordination with education offices for participant registration, to trial runs and dress rehearsals.
She added that the TKA implementation is carried out in stages based on education levels, starting with high schools in November 2025, then junior high schools in early April, and primary schools in the third week of April 2026.
“We hope that the mapping results through TKA can serve as a reference for local governments in designing interventions, including improving teacher capacity and enhancing the quality of learning in schools,” she said.
