MAGELANG, Central Java: A series of night tourist attractions at Borobudur Temple is to be set up in a bid to attract more tourists to the archeological site.
Another temple, Prambanan, already has a routine Ramayana dance performance.
The plan was revealed recently by the temple management, PT Taman Wisata, which oversees three sites: Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple and Ratu Boko.
Company president director Wagiman Subiarso said at least four large events were planned for 2004 as part of the program.
"We are giving consideration to inviting world-famous magician David Copperfield to perform at Borobudur around mid- 2004. Contact has already been made; we do hope he will be able to fulfill our invitation," Wagiman said.
PT Taman has also invited PT GE (General Electric) Lighting Indonesia to provide one of the world's wonders with a modern lighting system. For this special purpose, GE has used ceramic metal halide (CMH) 400W technology, known for its high efficiency.
"The EF2 2000 Ultraspot and PF 400 fixture lighting system have also been used at the temple to maintain the glorious image of the temple as well as to clearly display the temple reliefs at night," marketing manager of GE Lighting Indonesia Imelda Linggawijaya said. --JP
