Boeing 737 makes emergency landing in Banjarmasin: A Boeing 737

Boeing 737 makes emergency landing in Banjarmasin: A Boeing 737 carrying 108 people made an emergency landing at an airport at Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, on Thursday after one of its two engines failed, an airline official said. The plane, operated by domestic airline Mandala, returned to Syamsuddin Noor airport some 10 minutes after taking off, said a Mandala employee at the airport. "There is no one hurt and despite an engine failure, the plane only suffered from burst tires when landing," said the employee, who identified himself as Burhan. The 100 passengers had been transferred to another flight bound for Jakarta while the tires were replaced, Burhan said. Eight crew were on board. -- AFP
