BBM Stock Safe, Jakarta Provincial Government Urges Residents Not to Panic-Buy
Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov Jakarta) has assured that stockpiles of minyak fuel (BBM) in Jakarta remain safe ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri. As a result, residents are advised not to buy BBM in excess or engage in panic buying.
Gubernur Jakarta Pramono Anung stated that Jakarta is one of the areas prioritised to receive BBM supplies. He believes that BBM stock in Jakarta will stay secure despite a volatile global environment.
‘When it comes to BBM, Jakarta is, of course, always a priority for its stock, because we also have our own stock. So, hopefully BBM in Jakarta in readiness for Eid al-Fitr, especially for those who will be Mudik, will proceed well,’ he said in Setu Babakan, Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Friday, 6 March 2026.
Pramono explained that the BBM stock in Jakarta is managed in collaboration with the central government. However, he stressed that the stock remains safe for now. ‘I am confident that there will be no panic buying in Jakarta for BBM,’ he added.
Earlier reports noted that residents in Aceh Tengah queued to buy BBM at petrol stations, with some even bringing jerry cans due to fears of stock depletion.
Meanwhile, Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumatra Bagian Utara (Sumbagut) urged the public in Aceh not to panic. Pertamina assured that BBM and LPG are sufficient to meet community needs until Eid al-Fitr.
Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut, Fahrougi Andriani Sumampouw, said Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut continues to ensure the availability of BBM and LPG for the public.
‘We urge the public to remain calm and not engage in panic buying, as energy supplies are being safeguarded to remain available and well distributed,’ he said.
He noted that a range of anticipatory measures have been implemented, from stock build-up, strengthening distribution facilities, to active coordination with relevant parties. Pertamina has also undertaken various service-strengthening steps as part of anticipating potential increases in energy consumption during the period, including stock build-up and ensuring readiness of distribution facilities and infrastructure.
According to him, these measures are intended to ensure energy distribution to the public operates smoothly, safely, and in a measured manner.
