BB TNBTS suspends shooting permits in Bromo and surrounding areas

Malang, East Java (ANTARA) — The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority (BB TNBTS) has halted all permits for commercial and non-commercial filming or shooting activities within the national park, including the Mount Bromo area and its surroundings, in order to minimise the risk of forest fires.

Head of BB TNBTS Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, speaking in Malang, East Java, on Monday, said vegetation in the TNBTS area is currently dry due to the dry season, increasing the vulnerability of the area to forest fires.

“To safeguard visitor safety, protect the ecosystem and prevent forest fire disasters, BB TNBTS is temporarily suspending all permits for commercial and non-commercial shooting activities,” said Rudi.

Dry vegetation, he said, could trigger forest fires at any time, one cause being human negligence. Events often involve technical equipment, electrical appliances and fuel.

The BB TNBTS policy is directed at event organisers (EO), production houses (PH) and all event organisers in any form within the national park area.

Rudi said that with the issuance of the letter, the policy suspending filming activity permits takes effect from today.

He also urged all relevant parties to observe the rules that have been issued.

“Violations of this rule will be dealt with firmly in accordance with applicable laws and regulations,” he said.

In addition, BB TNBTS assured that tourist activities in the Mount Bromo and Ranu Regulo areas are not affected by this policy and will continue as usual.

Meanwhile, for Mount Semeru climbs, BB TNBTS is still enforcing a closure due to forest fires.
