Baznas Welcomes Strengthened Collaboration with PP Persis for Community Welfare
The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI has welcomed efforts to strengthen collaboration with the Central Board of the Islamic Union (PP Persis) and LAZ Persis to expand community empowerment programmes and improve public welfare through more optimal zakat management. This was conveyed during an audience and gathering between PP Persis and Baznas leadership at the Baznas RI office in Jakarta, which discussed the continuation of strategic cooperation and the exploration of new community empowerment programmes.
Baznas RI Chairman Sodik Mudjahid welcomed the visit from PP Persis and LAZ Persis as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration in national zakat management. During the meeting, he outlined eight priority strategies for Baznas for the 2026–2031 period, covering the strengthening of the zakat management ecosystem, digital transformation, improving amil competency, expanding partnership networks, and enhancing the distribution, utilisation, and empowerment of zakat, infak, and sedekah (ZIS) for mustahik.
He also introduced several priority programmes for the next five years, including Baznas Siaga Kemiskinan (Baznas Poverty Alert), Beasiswa Cendekia Baznas (BCB), Rumah Sehat Baznas (RSB), Rumah Layak Huni Baznas (Baznas Liveable Homes), Baznas Permodalan Ekonomi (Baznas Economic Capital), Rumah Terang Baznas (Baznas Bright Homes), Balai Ternak (Livestock Centres), Lumbung Pangan Baznas (Baznas Food Barns), Mualaf Center Baznas, Sekolah dan Pesantren Layak Belajar Baznas (Baznas Schools and Islamic Boarding Schools), and the Baznas Clean Water Programme.
According to Sodik, the development of cooperation with LAZ Persis can be directed towards various programmes oriented towards strengthening the pillars of the community and empowering mustahik. “We welcome the efforts to develop cooperation with LAZ Persis. Going forward, this synergy can be strengthened through various priority programmes oriented towards improving the welfare of the community and strengthening the empowerment of mustahik,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of PP Persis, Jeje Zaenudin, expressed appreciation to Baznas RI for its support over the past several years for LAZ Persis programmes, particularly the ‘Umat Pintar’ (Smart Community) Programme, which focuses on empowering orphans and the underprivileged through educational scholarships. Jeje noted that the cooperation, which has been in place since 2020, has benefited scholarship recipients from early childhood education, primary and secondary schools, through to higher education.
“We thank Baznas for its continuous support of LAZ Persis programmes, especially the scholarship programme for undergraduate and postgraduate students. This assistance has resulted in many achievements and works from the beneficiary students, some of which have even been published in book form,” said Jeje. He expressed hope that the existing cooperation could continue and that new programmes addressing community needs could be developed. “We hope the ongoing cooperation can be further enhanced. Beyond the ‘Umat Pintar’ programme, we see a significant need in the community for MSME empowerment and liveable housing assistance. Hopefully, we can continue to improve this collaboration together,” he added.
Through this meeting, Baznas RI and PP Persis hope to strengthen zakat management synergy and expand the reach of community empowerment programmes to improve public welfare and reinforce the national zakat ecosystem.
