National Zakat Agency (Baznas) has empowered 2,089 beneficiary livestock farmers across 15 provinces nationwide. Baznas is also committed to strengthening community empowerment programmes.

Chairman Sodik Mudjahid explained that the “Blessed Sacrifice Village Empowerment” programme is Baznas’ commitment to using Qurbani as an economic empowerment tool for the community while enhancing rural welfare.

Sodik stated that for 2026, Baznas will allocate 3,359 local male livestock for direct management by 2,089 trained farmers across various regions, with a total budget of Rp39.22 billion.

“The 2026 Blessed Sacrifice Village Empowerment programme offers dual benefits: Baznas ensures Qurbani animals are distributed to beneficiaries for meat needs while also providing sustainable economic impact for the farmer beneficiaries. All Baznas programmes aim to empower communities,” Sodik said during the Live Blessed Sacrifice Village Empowerment event in Sayana Village, Jalaksana District, Kuningan Regency, West Java, on Wednesday (27 May).

Sodik noted that Indonesia currently has around 103 livestock centres spread across 15 provinces. “How is the benefit? Currently, demand for Qurbani animals is high, and all livestock from these centres are used to meet Baznas’ Qurbani needs,” he explained.

With rising trends, the number of trained farmers is expected to exceed 2,089 beneficiaries and livestock centres will increase from the current 103 to meet future Qurbani demands.

“Expansion locations will be further assessed through strengthened collaboration with various parties, including the Minister for Community Empowerment, to help eradicate extreme poverty in hundreds of Indonesian cities. Livestock centres and other empowerment programmes will be reinforced in these areas,” Sodik said.

Sodik added that the Livestock Centres Programme is part of Baznas’ effort to transform beneficiaries into donors, particularly in rural areas with livestock development potential.

“Moving forward, Baznas will allocate more funds for empowerment and utilisation activities, not just consumptive aid. Our target is not merely for farmers to survive, but to rise from beneficiaries to donors,” he stated.

The Baznas Livestock Centre in Sayana Village, Jalaksana District, Kuningan Regency, was officially launched on 16 December 2025. The programme has since shown positive results in empowering beneficiary farmers and strengthening rural economies.
