Baznas transforms minimarket change donations into bridge in Sukabumi

The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) RI has utilised Rp300 million in small change donations from minimarket customers to build a permanent bridge, restoring access for residents in Sukajadi Village, Cimanggu District, Sukabumi Regency.

Fitriansyah Agus Setiawan, Director of Individual Collection at Baznas RI, stated that the bridge serves as evidence that every donation, regardless of its size, has the potential to bring about significant change when managed with integrity and precision. “These donations have been transformed into a bridge that connects the community to education, healthcare services, economic activities, and a better social life. This is the power of mutual cooperation through charity,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

Agus noted that the bridge reconnects Sukajadi Village and Karang Mekar Village, allowing more than 500 households to carry out their daily activities more safely and smoothly.

Furthermore, Rizaludin Kurniawan, Head of Mobilisation and Collection at Baznas RI, demonstrated that public donations are being returned to the community in the form of tangible benefits. “The trust provided, even from small amounts, is managed professionally, transparently, and accountably so that it can deliver great benefits such as the construction of this bridge,” he said. Rizaludin expressed hope that more people would be moved to donate, as every rupiah entrusted will serve as an effort to bring welfare to others.

Alfamart’s Regional Manager of Corporate Communication, Firly Firlandi, added that the construction of this bridge is one of many benefits realised from Alfamart customers’ donations managed by Baznas RI. “This bridge is the result of the care shown by consumers who set aside their change for charity. We hope the public can see that every donation, no matter how small, is capable of bringing about great change when done together,” said Firlandi.
