Baznas supports NU Congress with free services
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) is supporting the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress by providing various free services for participants, ranging from health services, a 24-hour coffee post, waste management, and ambulances, to supplying 15,000 Z-Chicken meal packages.
Baznas Chairman Sodik Mudjahid said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday that the presence of these services is part of Baznas’ efforts to contribute to the success of the 35th NU Congress in Jombang, East Java, while also expanding the benefits of zakat to the public involved in the event.
“At the 35th NU Congress, Baznas wants all segments of society to be happy and involved in this major event,” he said.
Sodik stressed that his agency wants the public to take part in the activity.
“We want the public not only to be beneficiaries, but also to take part in this event. Therefore, Baznas-assisted mustahik are involved in providing Z-Chicken so that this activity also becomes part of empowerment,” he said.
“We also opened a 24-hour coffee post as a resting place for participants between the congress agenda sessions. Waste management services have also been prepared to help maintain environmental cleanliness during the event,” he said.
In the waste management effort, Sodik said Baznas involved 200 volunteers from the Nahdlatul Ulama Students Association (IPNU) and mustahik, as a form of support for a clean, healthy, and environmentally friendly congress.
“In this momentum, we want to be closer to the public. Not only providing assistance, but also providing services and delivering benefits that can be felt directly,” said Sodik.
Separately, President Prabowo Subianto emphasised the role of Nahdlatul Ulama as one of the important forces in maintaining the nation’s stability and future.
According to the President, this spirit is in line with the aspirations of NU’s founders for Indonesia to rise and stand equal with other nations.
