Baznas strengthens mustahik MSME economy in Temanggung through Zmart Programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia has launched 40 Zmart outlets in Temanggung Regency, Central Java, as an effort to promote the economic advancement of mustahik through micro retail entrepreneurship or grocery stores.
Deputy II of Baznas RI for Distribution and Utilisation, Imdadun Rahmat, stated in Jakarta on Friday that the Zmart programme is one of the 10 flagship programmes of Baznas RI designed to sustainably improve the welfare of mustahik.
“This programme is implemented through collaboration between the central, provincial, and district/city Baznas. Based on internal surveys and research by Baznas, the Zmart Programme has proven effective as a means to enhance the welfare of mustahik,” he said.
Imdadun explained that since 2018 until March 2026, the Zmart programme has operated at 5,551 locations across 34 provinces and 139 districts/cities in Indonesia. In Central Java alone, the programme has reached 24 districts/cities with a total of 720 locations.
“The total assistance for the Zmart Programme in Temanggung amounts to Rp320 million, with each mustahik receiving working capital assistance of Rp8 million,” he clarified.
Imdadun noted that the business actors or Zmart Traders also receive two types of training, namely soft skills and hard skills in entrepreneurship, as well as intensive mentoring.
“This programme is not intended to maintain mustahik status, but to encourage them to advance to become muzaki,” he stated.
Imdadun also expressed appreciation to all parties, including the Temanggung Regency Local Government, which has accompanied Baznas in supporting the Zmart programme.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Temanggung Regency, Tri Winarno, expressed appreciation and welcomed the implementation of the Zmart programme in his region as part of a strategy to strengthen community economies based on micro-enterprises.
He said that the presence of 40 Zmart outlets in Temanggung is expected to pioneer efforts in improving the economy of beneficiaries and provide positive impacts for the surrounding community.
“Thank you, Baznas. This is a noble programme that must be supported collectively. We hope that the synergy between the Temanggung Regency Government and the central, provincial, and local Baznas can continue to be enhanced to uplift the economy of the community, especially in the first and second decile groups,” said Tri Winarno.
