Baznas Strengthens Economy Based on Taklim Councils through BMMT Programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia has officially launched the Baznas Microfinance Majelis Taklim (BMMT) programme to strengthen community economic resilience through the creative hands of women in taklim councils.
Deputy Chairman of Baznas RI, Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi, stated that this inauguration is not merely an administrative ceremony but a manifestation of Baznas’s grand vision in managing zakat, infak, and sedekah (ZIS).
“Alhamdulillah, today Baznas officially launches the strategic programme Baznas Microfinance Majelis Taklim. This is a new effort to provide Sharia-based capital access to keep the community away from economic-trapping practices through loans that do not comply with Sharia,” said Zainut in Jakarta on Thursday.
Zainut explained that many small communities have struggled to access capital, often falling into online loans or moneylenders. Therefore, Baznas provides fair capital without interest.
“Through this programme, we hope that taklim councils will not only serve as places for spiritual growth but also develop into groups with creative and productive businesses. Through this capital support, such creativity is expected to enhance the value of zakat benefits, shifting from previously consumptive to more productive uses,” he said.
“So far, BMMT has served 1,309 beneficiaries spread across 23 provinces and 28 regencies/cities. The total financing disbursed has reached Rp3,195,995,000,” he revealed.
Imdadun also expressed deep appreciation and gratitude for the synergy established with women’s taklim council organisations. He hopes this programme will bring blessings and benefits to all parties.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of PP Muslimat NU, Romlah Widayati, expressed thanks to Baznas for the capital assistance through the BMMT programme. She hopes the presence of BMMT can become a solution for women and mothers in taklim councils to develop their creativity and economy.
Furthermore, the Chairman of the Economy Division of PP Fatayat NU, Wafa Fatria Ummah, stated that this programme will focus on developing existing businesses, especially in the culinary sector.
