Baznas Sends Emergency Aid to Fire Victims in Sukabumi
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia has acted swiftly to distribute emergency aid to residents affected by a fire in Kasepuhan Ciptamulya, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, as a form of care in meeting the basic needs of communities impacted by the disaster.
Head of Baznas RI for Distribution, Utilisation and Empowerment, Idy Muzayyad, said the agency is committed to always being present among communities affected by disasters as a tangible expression of care and a trust fulfilled on behalf of zakat donors (muzaki).
“Baznas is moving quickly to distribute emergency aid so that survivors can immediately obtain the essential goods they need. We hope this assistance can somewhat ease the burden of our brothers and sisters facing this ordeal,” Idy said in a written statement on Monday.
Idy explained that the aid distributed includes food staple packages, bedding mats, blankets, hygiene kits and ready-to-eat meals. The assistance is expected to lighten the burden on survivors whilst helping to meet urgent needs during the emergency response period.
“Baznas will continue to strengthen its disaster response through collaboration with various parties so that disaster management is fast, on target and delivers optimal benefits to the community,” he said.
According to Idy, this aid is tangible proof that the zakat, infak and sedekah funds entrusted by donors can become a source of strength to help others in their moments of greatest need.
He expressed hope that the aid distributed by Baznas can help the community through the emergency response period whilst accelerating the post-disaster recovery process.
“Baznas also invites all elements of society to continue fostering the spirit of mutual cooperation and concern for disaster survivors across various regions of Indonesia,” Idy Muzayyad said.
