Baznas sends 3,774 Eid garments donated by Indonesian citizens to Palestinian children
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia has distributed new clothing donated by Indonesian citizens to 3,774 Palestinian children in Gaza and Jerusalem.
The Deputy II of Baznas in the Distribution and Empowerment of Imdadun Rahmat division stated that the programme is not merely material aid, but rather a message of solidarity. The Eid garments sent to the children are symbols of compassion intended to bring smiles to their faces.
“We want to ensure that children in Gaza do not feel alone. These Eid garments are symbols of compassion from the Indonesian people to bring smiles to their faces amidst a difficult situation,” said Imdadun in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.
Imdadun explained that distribution is carried out directly through local partners to ensure the new clothing reaches the hands of the most vulnerable children so they can experience joy on Eid al-Fitr in 1447 AH.
“Each piece of clothing given is hoped to bring warmth and new spirit to the recipients as they welcome the day of victory,” he said.
Imdadun also noted that the distribution of these new garments serves as evidence of Baznas’s transparency and accountability in managing Zakat, Infak, and Sedekah (ZIS) funds entrusted by the Indonesian people.
The success of the distribution is inseparable from the support of various parties who continue to channel assistance through Baznas’s official channels.
Upon receiving new clothes, wide smiles appeared on the faces of the beneficiary children who enthusiastically tried on the Eid garments donated by the Indonesian people.
With simple yet sincere language, they expressed deep gratitude to Baznas and all donors in Indonesia who have shown care for them during this difficult period.
During Ramadhan 1447 AH, Baznas has also launched other aid programmes for Palestine, including food packages, healthcare services, clean water provision, residential and temporary housing tents, blankets, mosque tents, and classroom tents for children in conflict-affected areas.
