Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Alms Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia has strengthened its humanitarian cooperation commitment with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) of Jordan to optimise the provision of health services for Palestinians.

Baznas RI’s Head of Distribution, Utilisation and Empowerment, Idy Muzayyad, stated in Jakarta on Sunday that KHCF Jordan is a trusted partner because it consistently implements and reports aid for the Palestinian people transparently.

“According to the fiqh principle of al-muhafadhatu ’ala al-qadimi al-shalih wal akhdu bil jadidi al-aslah (preserving good old values and adopting better new ones), we will maintain this good relationship and elevate it to an even better one,” he said.

Idy noted that the collaboration is marked by Baznas RI’s commitment to distribute humanitarian funds for Palestinian health services worth more than Rp1.7 billion.

“We also have a new distribution model by providing scholarships for Palestinian students to study in Indonesia. So this is a long-term and sustainable distribution programme in the health sector,” Idy Muzayyad added.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Republic of Indonesia, Sudqi Al Omoush, appreciated Baznas’ support and encouraged the development of other cooperation through sustainable waqf programmes to assist Palestinian refugees and other conflict-affected areas.

“So we invite you to join, to increase support as we have always done, all for the good of life, not war,” said Sudqi Al Omoush.

KHCF Director Madelin Al Salah expressed gratitude for Baznas RI’s ongoing support, including the latest allocation of more than Rp3.5 billion to support the treatment of cancer patients from Gaza in Jordan in 2026.

She stated that strengthening this humanitarian cooperation is urgent to meet the medical and logistical needs of patients and their companions from Gaza, given the crisis caused by declining international donations due to the war in the Gulf countries.

“That is why we are now in a state of crisis and issuing an emergency appeal for the patients currently residing in Jordan. If we do not get donations for them, we will not be able to continue support and will not be able to bring more patients from Gaza,” said Madelin Al Salah.
