Baznas RI Sets the 2026 Income Zakat Threshold at IDR 7,640,144 per Month
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Alms Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia has set the income and service zakat threshold for 2026 at IDR 7,640,144 per month, or IDR 91,681,728 per year, which is the minimum income for a Muslim to be required to pay 2.5% zakat.
The decision was the result of a deliberation on the income and service zakat threshold on Friday (20/2), taking into account Sharia aspects, regulations, and the economic conditions of the community. The figure is based on the price of 14-carat gold, equivalent to 85 grams of gold.
“We must not allow a lack of standards. In the management of national zakat, there must be a clear benchmark, because Baznas is the regulator in this matter. This standard is a reference for all zakat managers,” said Chairman of Baznas, Noor Achmad, in a statement in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Noor explained that they did not only consider normative aspects, but also the impact on services to mustahik (zakat recipients) which have been carried out through various poverty alleviation programs.
Therefore, the decision to use 14-carat gold is a form of balance between compliance with Sharia provisions and the welfare of the community, while still paying attention to the average income of the community so as not to burden muzaki (zakat payers), but to be optimal for the empowerment of mustahik.
Noor explained that the determination of the 14-carat gold standard is considered relevant because it has a value that is relatively equivalent to the price of premium rice, while still referring to the parameters of silver and the Non-Taxable Income Threshold (PTKZ).
Thus, this policy is considered capable of maintaining a balance between the aspect of justice for muzaki and protection for mustahik.
“So, the decision on this nisab has met the elements of Sharia compliance, regulatory compliance, and also pays attention to the interests of muzaki and mustahik,” said Noor Achmad.
The decision of this deliberation was then set forth in the Decree of the Chairman of Baznas No. 15 of 2026 concerning the Value of the Income and Service Zakat Threshold for 2026 on Saturday (21/2).
