Baznas RI Launches Qurban Services for Indonesians to Support Palestine
The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) RI has launched the ‘Kurban Berkah untuk Palestina’ service to assist the public in performing the Qurban (animal sacrifice) ritual specifically for the people of Palestine.
“Baznas aims to provide a solution so that the community can perform the Qurban ritual while simultaneously helping our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” stated the Chairman of Baznas RI, Sodik Mudjahid, in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.
Sodik noted that this programme is part of Baznas’ efforts to expand the benefits of Qurban, reaching not only domestic recipients but also those in need within humanitarian conflict zones, such as Palestine.
He explained the various livestock options available within the programme, including regular sheep/goats weighing approximately 35kg priced at Rp5.9 million, premium sheep/goats weighing approximately 45kg priced at Rp9 million, Al-Quds cattle weighing approximately 450kg priced at Rp59 million, and a 1/7 share of cattle provided in canned form weighing approximately 20kg priced at Rp5.9 million.
He emphasised that the entire process, from procurement to distribution, is conducted professionally and in accordance with Sharia principles, ensuring the quality and suitability of the livestock.
“Packaging in cans is one of the solutions to ensure that the sacrificial meat can last longer and reach a wider range of beneficiaries,” he added.
Sodik also invited the Indonesian public to utilise the ‘Kurban Berkah untuk Palestina’ programme as a means of sharing and demonstrating humanitarian solidarity.
