Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chairman of the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia, Sodik Mudjahid, has conveyed condolences over the deaths of three soldiers and injuries to five soldiers of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) during a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.

“The Baznas team expresses deep grief because Baznas, together with the TNI, has directly experienced the struggles in the field in providing support and assistance to the people in the Middle East region, particularly the Palestinian people,” Sodik said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Sodik stated that the soldiers who fell while safeguarding world peace, defending the nation, and upholding the honour of the nation are considered to have died as martyrs. Therefore, their position is highly noble, and Allah SWT has promised paradise as their reward.

He emphasised that their sacrifices serve as an example and an honour for the Indonesian nation.

As a form of care for the fallen soldiers, Sodik said, Baznas will help alleviate the burden on the families of the deceased as a manifestation of solidarity and respect for their services.

“May the deceased have a good end, may all their deeds of worship be accepted, and may the families left behind be granted patience and strength,” said Sodik Mudjahid.

It is known that the three TNI soldiers died in an incident while carrying out the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission on Sunday (29/3) and Monday (30/3). They were Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon, Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, and Sergeant Major Muhammad Nur Ichwan.
