Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) has built seven emergency classroom tents to support educational activities for children impacted by the humanitarian crisis in the Beit Lahia area, northern Gaza, Palestine.

Baznas Chairman Sodik Mudjahid stated that access to education for children must be maintained even in emergency conditions. The presence of these emergency classroom tents is expected to assist them in the learning process.

“We want the children in Gaza to continue having safe and adequate learning spaces. These emergency classroom tents are hoped to help them continue their learning activities despite being in the midst of a difficult situation,” said Sodik in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

Sodik mentioned that they are providing temporary learning spaces equipped with desks and chairs so that children can participate in learning activities more comfortably.

“We express our thanks to President Prabowo Subianto for continuously providing encouragement and trust to Baznas so that this programme can be implemented. We also extend our thanks to all Indonesian people who have channelled their assistance through Baznas, enabling various humanitarian programmes, including the provision of these emergency classrooms, to continue being delivered to our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” said Sodik Mudjahid.

Joy was directly felt by one of the beneficiaries, Zeina Al Motawaq (8). This primary school pupil recounted her experience of having to learn without adequate facilities before these tents were established.

It is known that the emergency classroom facilities in Beit Lahia are designed to accommodate 100 children, divided into two learning sessions. Each session is attended by around 45 to 50 pupils.

In addition to sturdy tents, Baznas also provides supporting facilities such as desks and chairs to enhance learning comfort.

Baznas also distributes various humanitarian aids to the Palestinian community, including food packages, iftar meals, healthcare services, as well as the distribution of clean water, clothing, and blankets, up to the construction of various emergency facilities such as settlement tents, house tents, and mosque tents.
