Jakarta — The National Zakat Collection Body (Baznas) RI has established 21 mudik (homebound) posts along major routes throughout Java island.

Deputy Chairman of Baznas RI Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi stated that these homebound posts were established to meet the basic needs of travellers, ranging from comfortable rest areas to healthcare services to restore their physical condition during long journeys.

“Homebound travellers certainly need comfortable rest areas and services that allow them to recover their strength. Baznas is here to provide all the services they need,” said Zainut through a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

Zainut explained that the 21 mudik posts are distributed across Banten Province (two locations), West Java (10 locations), Central Java and DIY (six locations), and East Java (two locations), and are ready to operate for 10 days from H-5 until H+5 Eid al-Fitr.

The services provided include snacks and iftar provision, water stations, sahur (pre-dawn meal) service, lactation rooms for nursing mothers, child-friendly spaces, and free massage services. Additionally, healthcare facilities, prayer rooms, toilets, mobile phone charging, and WiFi access are available, all of which can be accessed free of charge.

The selection of locations concentrated on Java was based on evaluation results of mudik traffic density.

“We focus on areas with the highest concentration of homebound travellers so that services are more optimal for efficiency and wider reach,” said Zainut.

Zainut stated that 280 personnel have been deployed to oversee these mudik posts with support from Baznas Disaster Response volunteers from the regions.

He also appealed to homebound travellers to prioritise health and road safety.

“Take care of your health and ensure your vehicle is in good condition. Do not hesitate to stop at our posts so we can provide the best service. May this journey home bring blessings for everyone,” he said.
