Baznas RI constructs temporary housing for earthquake survivors in NTT
The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) RI is constructing 10 temporary housing units (huntara) for earthquake survivors across the East Manggarai and Ngada Regencies in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
“We are building these temporary units so that survivors have a decent and safe place to live while waiting for the recovery of permanent housing,” said Idy Muzayyad, Head of Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment at Baznas RI, in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Idy explained that the construction of these temporary units is spread across East Manggarai, including five units in Gololijun Village, three units in Satar Kampas Village, and one unit in West Satar Punda Village, as well as one unit in the Ngada Regency, specifically in the Ite Jaya sub-district.
He noted that this assistance continues to increase in accordance with the needs of the local residents.
According to Idy, since the onset of the disaster, Baznas RI has moved swiftly to distribute various emergency response aid, ranging from food and healthcare services to clean water and the construction of supporting facilities for survivors.
Baznas is also providing educational assistance to 1,000 students from NTT in the earthquake-affected areas to ensure that aid is precisely targeted. This assistance is intended to help students from NTT continue their education despite the economic hardships faced by families impacted by the earthquake.
“We invite all levels of society to join hands and work together to help our brothers and sisters in NTT so that they can quickly rise and restore their lives,” said Idy Muzayyad.
