Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI, together with Dompet Dhuafa, is strengthening the national zakat ecosystem through a transformation in management that is more professional and measurable. This was highlighted during an audience held by the Dompet Dhuafa management team at the Baznas RI office in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4). Sodik reaffirmed his commitment to undertaking a major transformation in national zakat management by aligning the concept of asnaf with modern development dimensions. He stated that they would also focus on standardising programme success metrics based on national statistical data, as applied by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Sodik mentioned that this collaboration is planned to be outlined in a roadmap and five-year strategy ahead, encompassing annual programmes as a joint guide for all zakat management organisations in Indonesia. “Our task is to transform how the concept of the eight asnaf becomes concepts of humanity, health, education, and economy. For example, ibnusabil/fisabilillah should not be limited to da’wah and advocacy; it might be more appropriate to include in ummah development,” he said. Sodik also highlighted the importance of standardising zakat distribution so that every programme has an impact that can be accounted for scientifically and in accordance with sharia. He encouraged that zakat management should no longer be merely charitable assistance but must be linked to concrete and measurable success indicators. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Foundation Board, Ahmad Juwaini, stated that this meeting was held to strengthen synergy in national zakat governance following the appointment of Baznas leadership for the 2026-2031 period. He emphasised the importance of more operational work area divisions, such as mapping educational scholarship distribution, to make the reach of zakat benefits wider and more even across all regions of Indonesia.
