Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia is collaborating with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) to introduce qurbani and hajj dam payment features on the BYOND by BSI app, making it easier for the public to fulfil their qurbani and hajj dam obligations.

Baznas RI Chairman Sodik Mudjahid stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that this collaboration is part of the transformation of qurbani services to make them more accessible to the wider public through digital platforms.

“We are committed to providing safe, transparent qurbani and dam payment services that offer convenience to the public in performing their worship. This digitalisation is expected to broaden public participation while strengthening the spirit of sharing with brothers and sisters in need across Indonesia,” he said.

Sodik also conveyed that this year Baznas is promoting the “Kurban Berkah Berdayakan Desa” campaign, involving supervised livestock farmers in various regions of Indonesia as qurbani animal suppliers.

The programme not only facilitates the public in performing qurbani worship but also serves as an effort to strengthen village economies through empowering local farmers and reinforcing the community’s economic chain.

Meanwhile, BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo stated that BYOND by BSI continues to be developed as a super app for financial, social, and spiritual services that provides ease of sharia-compliant services to the public.

Anggoro is optimistic that the BSI and Baznas collaboration will further increase public participation in qurbani and strengthen sharia social financial literacy in Indonesia.

Director of Regular Hajj Pilgrims, Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj), M. Afief Mundzir, stated that the digital transformation undertaken is a strategic step to facilitate the public in performing qurbani and dam while strengthening community economic empowerment.

“We (Indonesia) have great potential that may not yet be well utilised, and this is the starting point and milestone together towards a great civilisation in this Republic through the philanthropy sector together with Baznas and BSI,” he said.

Afief explained that the Government of Indonesia has provided options to hajj pilgrims regarding the implementation of dam, either in Saudi Arabia or in Indonesia.
