Baznas Records Highest Zakat Collection in 11 Years of Palace Implementation
The National Zakat Board (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia has recorded a historic achievement in the implementation of the 2026 Palace Zakat programme titled “Zakat Strengthening Indonesia”. The Palace Zakat counter service this year achieved the highest zakat collection throughout 11 iterations of the Palace Zakat programme.
The activity held at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March, successfully gathered zakat funds exceeding Rp4.3 billion from 111 zakah payers, comprising state officials, cabinet ministers, and military personnel.
In terms of trend, zakat collection from state officials at the Palace through Baznas has continued to increase in the period from 2022 to 2026. In 2022, collected zakat was recorded at Rp636.25 million, increasing to Rp753.5 million in 2023, then reaching Rp1.0885 billion in 2024. Collections increased again in 2025 to Rp2.0403 billion, and in 2026 surged significantly to reach Rp4.3452 billion.
Not only President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka paid their zakat; several cabinet ministers also made zakat contributions through Baznas, including the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs Yusril Ihza Mahendra, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, and the Presidential Special Envoy for Youth Development and Arts Workers Raffi Ahmad.
Also present were the Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir, the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and the Military Commander Agus Subianto.
The Chair of Baznas Indonesia, Sodik Mudjahid, expressed appreciation for the commitment of state leaders who consistently pay zakat through Baznas year after year.
“We express our gratitude for the support of the President, the Vice President, and all cabinet members who have paid zakat through Baznas. This gives tremendous value to us. Beyond increasing zakat revenue, what is more important is moral support,” Sodik stated.
According to him, the support of state leaders has significant influence in raising public awareness to pay zakat through official institutions.
“The exemplary leadership is very effective in mobilising society to pay zakat through trusted and accountable institutions. Its influence can even be stronger than campaigns we conduct,” he continued.
He added that this highest collection achievement in 11 Palace Zakat implementations is an important momentum for the Baznas management in the 2026–2031 period to continue improving the quality of zakat management.
“This trust is a mandate for us to continue strengthening professional, transparent, and accountable zakat management so that its benefits are genuinely felt by the deserving recipients throughout Indonesia,” he explained.
Sodik also emphasised that the potential for national zakat in Indonesia is very large and can be an important force in helping to alleviate poverty and improve the welfare of the Muslim community.
“The participation of state officials in Palace Zakat also demonstrates state presence in supporting the national zakat movement. This becomes a positive signal that zakat is increasingly viewed as an important instrument in the social and economic development of society,” he said.
