The National Board for Zakat Management (Baznas) RI held a ceremonial handover of sacrificial animals, consisting of 12 cattle, from PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal Tbk in Jakarta on Tuesday. This symbolic event marks the beginning of a collaboration between the two institutions under the ‘Qurbani Berkah Berdayakan Desa Baznas’ programme.

The Vice Chairman of Baznas RI, Zainut Tauhid, expressed his appreciation for the concern and the trust placed in Baznas by PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal. He guaranteed that the distribution of the donation would be managed professionally and implemented in accordance with legal regulations, Islamic law, and national principles. “We extend our deepest gratitude for your care in delivering these sacrificial animals through Baznas. We ensure that your mandate will be fulfilled to the best of our ability, adhering to our three core principles: regulatory compliance, Sharia compliance, and national integrity,” explained Zainut Tauhid.

Zainut Tauhid also assured that the entire slaughtering process would be conducted hygienically and according to Islamic Sharia, supported by Baznas-certified slaughterers. Furthermore, he expressed readiness to expand humanitarian partnerships through various social programmes, educational assistance, and economic stimuli for vulnerable communities. This includes Baznas’s commitment to maximising the potential of productive zakat to boost the welfare of micro-entrepreneurs.

“Moving forward, we are very open to collaborating to help our fellow citizens, as Baznas manages scholarship programmes, ‘Tanggap Duafa’ (poverty response), and productive zakat initiatives such as ZChicken and ZMart to empower struggling MSMEs,” he added.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal Tbk, Sugeng Mulyadi, stated that this marks the company’s first collaboration with Baznas for a sacrificial animal programme. He noted that the donation of 12 cattle serves as an implementation of the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments. He expressed hope that the programme would help reduce poverty and increase community welfare through sustainable economic growth. In addition to the sacrificial animals, employees of PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal also actively participate in regular zakat and alms through internal salary deductions.

This programme is being implemented across four provinces: West Java, Central Java, North Sumatra, and East Java. Large-scale sacrificial programmes in the country are a continuation of the Presidential Community Assistance (Banpres) programme, which has existed since the era of President Soeharto. Addressing the challenge of access to animal protein in underdeveloped, frontier, and remote (3T) regions, the distribution of this meat also strengthens the contribution of the Baznas Livestock Station programme, which currently spans 103 points across 15 provinces.
