Baznas Qurban Programme Exceeds Target, Boosts Mustahik Economy

The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia has successfully exceeded its 2026 Qurban collection target, simultaneously boosting the economy of mustahik farmers in rural areas through the ‘Kurban Berkah Berdayakan Desa’ (Blessed Qurban Empowering Villages) programme. Idy Muzayyad, Head of Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment at Baznas, explained in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday that the realisation of the Qurban programme, combined with livestock-based economic empowerment, successfully raised funds amounting to Rp23,094,144,719, reaching 101.45 percent of the initial target. Idy stated that Baznas’s Qurban programme not only focuses on providing quality sacrificial animals but is also fully committed to changing the fortunes of mustahik farmers so they can become the main drivers of the economy in their villages. He assessed that the Qurban programme managed through Baznas-assisted livestock centres has tangibly realised economic independence, institutional independence, and even the mental and spiritual independence of farmers. “The essence is that the Kurban Berkah Baznas Berdayakan Desa activity is part of our way of being a facilitator or serving our farmers to be able to provide good Qurban, Qurban that complies with Sharia, healthy Qurban, and a business model that is also Sharia-compliant,” said Idy. Eka Budhi Sulistyo, Director of Utilisation and UPZ CSR Services at Baznas RI, said that in addition to the success of the Qurban programme, Baznas RI also recorded a significant achievement in the 2026 Hajj Dam programme, with a value reaching Rp13.82 billion. The move to relocate the slaughtering location for Hajj pilgrims’ dam animals to the domestic market is considered highly strategic, as all meat packages are distributed directly to strengthen the economic wheel of poor communities in various regions. “Bringing the management of the Hajj dam back to the homeland is very strategic, because all the meat from the slaughtered animals from the livestock centres will be distributed directly to provide strong economic benefit value for mustahik in the regions,” said Eka Budhi Sulistyo.
